Fasting again

Fasting Again After a Several Year Hiatus

It’s clear that Jesus fasted and knew that his disciples would as well because when he spoke of the issue he did so in a way that assumed they would.  He said, "16"When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 17But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 18so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

I have fasted many times in my life but it has been a few years.  In fact, that I can remember I have not fasted since I returned from my time of rebellion until now.  I am fasting because my heart has been impure, I have been unsure about the way God wants me to go in my life–setting long term goals, our men’s retreat is coming up and we want direction from God to make it the very best it can be to move the hearts of the men of the congregation, my friend Bob’s heart has been hard to the word and my friend Mike needs a job and made a very bad mistake in stealing something from his previous employer and needs to overcome the burden of this situation. I’m praying for God to intervene in these issues in a special way so that my heart will be changed, so that I will have wisdom to know God’s direction in my life, we will know what to do for our men’s retreat, Bob’s heart will soften and Mike will quickly get a job for the sake of his family.

God has blessed us so much already and has allowed us to help many people for good, I pray that we continue to please him more and more.

Well, time to go have school with Christopher now.  Talk to you again soon.
